Here are some notes I took when I was configuring my brother's laptop:

Problem with slow wifi

Proprietary drivers needed for wireless network card doesn't work properly. Internet slows down drastically from time to time, which makes using of wifi pretty annoying. To "fix" this issue following command as root:

# rmmod iwlwifi && echo "options iwlwifi 11n_disable=1" >
/etc/modprobe.d/iwlwifi-disable.conf && modprobe iwlwifi

It disables 802.11n support, which makes connection go bad. It shouldn't cause any difference in wifi usability from user perspective.
